Expat & Overseas Players

New to the UK? We assess things differently

Signing for a UK club without a UK credit history shouldn’t mean waiting months for a car. Whether you’re arriving for the first time, returning after time abroad, or already in the UK but yet to build up a credit file, we assess affordability using checks in your home country as well as here.

How it works for expats

Credit checks that look beyond the UK

Standard UK credit checks don’t reflect players and staff who’ve just arrived in the country. Our underwriters instead carry out credit checks in your home country, alongside affordability and asset checks, so a thin or non-existent UK credit file doesn’t automatically rule you out.

We’ve supported relocating professionals, including footballers, since 2007 — the process is familiar to us even if it’s new to you.

What’s different about an expat contract

A higher minimum documentation fee of £495 plus VAT applies, reflecting the extra underwriting involved, and a refundable deposit is required for around 90% of applicants. The monthly price of your car itself never changes once agreed. You’ll need a UK bank account (a digital account such as Revolut or Wise is accepted), plus your passport, driving licence, proof of residency, employment verification and proof of funds.

  • Refundable deposit for most applicants
  • UK bank account required (Revolut/Wise accepted)
